Chapter 1

A Season of Gratitude and Community

Candice Nicholson (Jackson)

Hello families, and welcome back to another episode of Paws and Progress. We hope you had a warm and joy-filled Thanksgiving. We are grateful for each and every family and scholar in our community. We would love to know what was on your Thanksgiving menu, so feel free to share in the class chat. We enjoy learning about the traditions and dishes that make your holiday special.

Candice Nicholson (Jackson)

We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the families who volunteered and donated at The School at Marygrove Thankful Fest. Your generosity, energy, and support helped create a memorable experience for our scholars. A special shout-out goes to Jimmie’s mother for the outstanding cooking demonstration she did for the fourth graders last week. It was such a highlight.

Candice Nicholson (Jackson)

We are also excited to share an update from our canned food drive. Because of your kindness, generosity, and commitment to our community, our school collected an incredible one thousand five hundred forty cans and non-perishable items. This is a powerful example of what we can accomplish when we work together.

Candice Nicholson (Jackson)

A few quick reminders for upcoming events: cheerleading tryouts will take place after school on Monday, December eighth and Wednesday, December tenth. Additionally, tickets are now on sale for the TSM Skating Party at Northland Roller Rink on Thursday, December eleventh. Tickets are eight dollars and can be purchased in advance.

Chapter 2

ELA Celebration of Learning Events

Candice Nicholson (Jackson)

We are thrilled to announce that our English Language Arts Celebration of Learning for both fourth and fifth grade will take place on Monday, December fifteenth, two thousand twenty-five.

Candice Nicholson (Jackson)

Our fifth grade scholars will be performing their original monologues cafe-style at an event we are calling “Esperanza Cafe.” They will be sharing stories of overcoming and triumph as inspired by the text Esperanza Rising. We invite families to join us for this special showcase of hard work, courage, and voice.

Candice Nicholson (Jackson)

Our fourth grade scholars will also take the stage as they share their original poetry with parents and families. This is always a beautiful moment where creativity and confidence shine. More details will be shared soon, so please stay tuned.

Chapter 3

Fourth Grade Math and Science Updates

Candice Nicholson (Jackson)

In mathematics, fourth grade scholars will continue exploring Module Three with a focus on long division. This topic takes time and repetition, and your support at home makes a big difference. Practicing multiplication and division facts daily will strengthen accuracy and confidence as we move deeper into this work.

Candice Nicholson (Jackson)

In science, scholars should continue their journeys with annual science fair projects. Revised science fair introductions, along with teacher comments, will be returned soon. Please check your scholar’s OneDrive for feedback.

Candice Nicholson (Jackson)

January will be here before we know it, and this is a great time to begin thinking about when to start trials, gather materials, and order supplies. Thank you to all parents who attended the Science Fair Parent Meeting. Your participation helps ensure scholars feel supported, prepared, and excited about investigating their questions.

Chapter 4

Looking Ahead to December

Candice Nicholson (Jackson)

Tomorrow will be the first day of December. As temperatures continue to drop, please ensure that scholars come to school dressed for the weather, including coats, hats, and gloves.

Candice Nicholson (Jackson)

We also want to remind families that middle-of-the-year I-Ready testing will begin later this week. A good night’s sleep, a healthy breakfast, and steady attendance will help scholars feel confident and ready to show what they know.

Candice Nicholson (Jackson)

Thank you for tuning in to this week’s episode of Paws and Progress. We appreciate your partnership every day, and we look forward to a strong and joyful start to the month of December.
