Chapter 1
Welcome Back!
Candice Nicholson (Jackson)
Hello families, and welcome back to another episode of Paws and Progress! I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend. As we return to school, I just want to gently remind everyone to continue being patient during arrival and dismissal. We’re still practicing procedures and learning routines together, and with time, everything will run even more smoothly.
Chapter 2
Our Schedule
Candice Nicholson (Jackson)
Let’s revisit our weekly schedule so we’re all on the same page: On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I see 5th grade in the morning for ELA and Social Studies, and then I work with 4th grade in the afternoon for Math and Science. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we flip-flop the schedule. That means 4th grade in the morning and 5th grade in the afternoon. This structure helps keep things balanced and ensures each group gets dedicated learning time.
Chapter 3
Upcoming Events
Candice Nicholson (Jackson)
We have some exciting things coming up! First, mark your calendars for Curriculum Night on Wednesday, September 18th at 4:30. This will be a great chance to see what your child will be learning this year and how you can partner with us. And don’t forget — Fridays are Spirit Wear Days! Students can wear a Marygrove shirt or dress in navy and gold to show their school spirit.
Chapter 4
Spirit Wear & Volunteers
Candice Nicholson (Jackson)
Speaking of spirit wear, our Spirit Wear Fundraiser is happening all through the month of September. It’s a fun way to support our school and show Marygrove pride. Also, we are always in need of parent volunteers. If you’d like to help in the classroom or at school events, please fill out an I-Chat form. We’d love to have you join us!
Chapter 5
First Lessons
Candice Nicholson (Jackson)
Now that we’re back from break, it’s time to dive into learning. On Tuesday after Labor Day, we officially begin Module 1, Lesson 1 in both EL Education for Reading and Eureka Math. It’s always exciting to start new units and see our scholars explore, question, and grow.
Chapter 6
Thank You & Core Values
Candice Nicholson (Jackson)
As always, thank you for being such an important partner in your child’s education. Here at Marygrove, we know that families and teachers working together make the biggest difference. This month, we’re focusing on one of our core values: Cooperation. Please take time to encourage your scholar to practice cooperation — at school, at home, and in the community. That’s all for today’s episode of Paws and Progress. Thank you for tuning in, and I look forward to sharing more updates with you next time.
